The InterPlex Enterprise gateway is a read/write gateway using the “COMMIT/CONFIRM” transaction model.  Updates are supplied by generated access routines built through the InterPlex administration tool.  Updates, made to DMS database(s) via the DataServer using InterPlex generated access routines, will insure data integrity and synchronization of all transactions involved.

In general, the InterPlex SQL mainframe components will access the DMS database with the same performance that your application programs achieve.  To ensure this performance, an analysis of the data and the paths used to access the data should be undertaken.  The same concerns used when building your native DMS applications should be applied during the generation of the InterPlex SQL views.  If this approach is taken, the relative performance should match your native DMS application performance.

Enterprise Gateway Definition

Within a company’s computer network, there are many different types of hardware and operating systems.  An important need to assimilating data from various heterogeneous data sources so decisions can be made with accurate and timely information based on the enterprise data is critical.  A gateway, by definition, is an application that implements protocols to exchange information between a server and an otherwise incompatible target system.  The InterPlex Enterprise gateway server is a set of processes that allows one or more foreign DataServers to access the Unisys DMS database.  The client application that accesses the Unisys DMS database through the InterPlex gateway can be any client application that normally interacts with the selected DataServer.

The diagram below indicates where various InterPlex Enterprise products fit in a Unisys ClearPath IX or 2200 environment.  This product family has the ability to inter-connect and coexist within the Unisys environment.  The arrangement shows a client system, such as a Microsoft workstation and a DataServer node with the InterPlex Enterprise gateway installed.  The InterPlex gateway server supplies the communications between the DataServer and the Unisys DMS database.
